the promise of liberation

One of the joys of my work in the Deaf community 20 years ago was to be in a community that was discovering first hand the joy of the promise of liberation inherent in the Gospel.  Those of us in the dominant society often miss the sweet taste of this, the remarkable power.  On CBC Radio One's The Current on Monday Kevin Banes of Free the Slaves was interviewed.  In this segment the interview starts about 14 minutes in, and he talks about the experience of liberation/emancipation. Powerful stuff in its own context, but also a moving reminder of what the Gospel is intended to do in all our lives.  Dominant culture or oppressed.  Slave or free.
